1 ½ cups flour
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
1 ½ cups butter (3 sticks + 3 tbs.)
3 cups sugar
1 ½ cups cocoa
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans or almonds), optional
3 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease (or Pam) a 13x9x2 baking pan. Sift flour
and baking powder. In a large saucepan, melt butter, remove from heat and
add cocoa & blend until smooth. Allow mixture to cool slightly.
Stir in sugar. Add eggs one at a time, do notoverbeat. Stir in dry ingredients,
nuts and vanilla. Spread into prepared bakingpan. Bake 40-45 minutes.
Cool & frost OR sift powdered sugar OR decorate with chopped nuts.
